Can my child bring a favourite personal toy?
The Lighthouse is well resourced for children’s play and we ask that you do not send personal toys from home unless these are special comfort toys which are essential for sleeping or settling/ security needs.
How many children is The Lighthouse licensed for?
The Ministry of Education has licensed Lighthouse Childcare Centre for 55 children, including up to 15 under 2 year olds.
I have 2 children, one would be in the Tui room and the other is over 3 years, would the children see each other and spend time together during the day?
Yes, the Lighthouse does allow visits into the Tui room by siblings, with discussion with parents.
What are the hours of operation for the centre?
Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm.
Does the Lighthouse close at anytime during the year?
No, the Lighthouse is open throughout the year and is only closed on statutory days and weekends.
What session options are offered?
There are 2 options available:
- Full time – 7.30am to 5.30pm
- A 6.5 hour day from 9.00am to 3.30pm
Do I provide nappies for my child?
Yes parents supply nappies of the type and size that suits their child
What do I need to do regarding my child’s meals during the day?
The Lighthouse provides nutritious food throughout the day. Meals include plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Special dietary needs are catered for. Water is provided.
How do I pay fees?
Fees are paid weekly in advance by direct bank transfer. Fees are paid weekly for the sessions booked.
Do I pay fees when my child is on holiday and not attending the Lighthouse?
All children enrolled at the Lighthouse receive half price fees for two weeks per year. These two weeks can be taken at any time that best suits you. The child must be enrolled at the Lighthouse for at least 6 months before there is eligibility to use the 2 week holiday period. These holidays cannot be carried forward from year to year.
Do you offer a programme to help the transition between The Lighthouse and primary school?
Yes, the Lighthouse runs a “Ready for School ” Programme for 4 year olds, this helps prepare the child for transition into school. Our programme is highly regarded by local primary schools.
